NEWBKA skep making day held in February, 2018

On the 17th February twelve NEWBKA members enjoyed a day of building their own skep, organised as part of the NEWBKA social calendar. The day involved instruction from the well known straw skep maker Mike Townsend, who demonstrates all over the country at BBKA events. The day was full of skill building, chat, fun and great home made food (Sandwiches, cakes and biscuits and especially the soups on a cold February day).

Emphasis was put upon building a neat straw skep as it could be the only one each participant ever made, rather than an untidy one. All made great progress with the tools and materials Mike had given to them and went away with the experience, skills and knowledge to finish off their masterpiece.
Another day of skep making is planned later on in 2018. . It will be open to everyone - members, associates, non members and friends. So if you are interested please get in contact with Chris Tomlin.
